Welcome to the Manukau Community Foundation

The Manukau Community Foundation aims to generate and distribute philanthropic resources to address emerging social issues and to meet the needs of its communities.

We offer a range of services which help donors become involved in community causes of their own choosing. We put donors at the centre of the giving equation to enhance the charitable outcome for the community.

We are building a community based endowment fund to provide a permanent financial asset for our communities. All donations are pooled and invested wisely to generate income to help build social capital. In this way the generosity of each generation of donors flows on to support those who follow them.

We enhance and strengthen the community in which we operate. We use our grant making expertise and knowledge of community issues to assist donors develop strategic giving plans and make effective grants, which meet their own charitable goals while addressing the needs of the community.

...nau te rourou, naku te rourou, ka ora te manuwhiri

...with your food basket and my food basket everyone will be fed

Māori proverb.

Mark Bentley joins Manukau Community Foundation

We are pleased to announce that Mark Bentley commenced work as our new Chief Executive in late June.

For the most recent four years he was General Manager of the New Zealand Leadership Institute, a leadership research and development centre based at the University of Auckland Business School. Prior to that, he managed the Business School's "world class business school" fundraising campaign as Director of Marketing and Advancement. Mark has lived in New Zealand for eight years having emigrated from the UK in 2001.

In the UK, Mark also had prior experience of marketing and enterprise roles in the TV sport, further education and construction supplies industries. He is the holder of three national education marketing awards in the UK (Best Campaign 1995 and 1998 and Best Prospectus 1997).

Mark is a current trustee of Outward Bound and ed&co.

The Board of Trustees is keen that Mark build upon the Foundation's important platform of community engagement and create a permanent endowment that can support significantly higher levels of community support for generations to come. Meeting these needs will require the Foundation to reach out across the broader Auckland Region and further afield to the international Kiwi diaspora for support.

Mark looks forward to working with past and future friends of the Foundation in the further development of the communities it serves.
